TEAM LEAD, SURFACE LAND ADMINISTRATION – CALGARY (Job Reference # CSUR006SLC)

We are currently seeking for a Surface Land Administration Team Lead to join our Surface Land Administration team in our Calgary office. Reporting to the Group Lead and the Manager of Surface Land Administration, the Team Lead of Surface Land Administration will be focused on upholding the client service proposition, monitoring time tracking and invoices, and training direct reports.

 KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Ensure alignment of Surface Land team administrative functions with and in support of company business strategy including regulatory compliance, adherence to standard processes and procedures and upholding quality assurance.
  • Manage client relationships and uphold the client service proposition
  • Monitor time tracking and invoices
  • Lead, train and develop a team of land administrators on standard land service proposition, land requirements and regulations, processes and procedures (internal and client-specific requirements), and new methods/technologies.

 QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of 5 years of land work experience

MANAGER, BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT (Job Reference # CBDEV005SLC)

We are currently recruiting for a Business Development Manager to join our Business Development team in our Calgary office.

Reporting to the Director of Business Development, this role will be responsible for the development of new opportunities for Standard Land in the Canadian market. This position will be accountable to assist with the development and implementation of the Business Development Strategy and Business Plan, including the development of a specific sales strategy and overall processes. The BD Manager will develop and manage client relations in support of sales targets, revenue growth and corporate objectives. This position will also lead, mentor and provide training and education to junior Business Development team colleagues.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Contribute to the development, implementation, and management of the overall Business Development business plan, including the development and application of sales strategies, market/sales research, analysis, and reporting.
  • Develop and manage client relations in support of sales targets, revenue growth and corporate objectives.
  • Identify new business opportunities and pursue prospective clients and sales leads.
  • Act as a highly visible ambassador for Standard Land, representing SLC in discussions with assigned accounts and for new prospects at a variety of events.
  • Conduct prospective client presentations.
  • Liaise with all SLC departments to ensure overall company-wide strategic and operational objectives are met.
  • Lead, mentor and provide training and education to junior Business Development team colleagues.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in new business development with a minimum of 5 – 8 years of demonstrated success in business to business sales, preferably in a land environment.
  • Relevant, post-secondary education in business, marketing or other related areas. Suitable combinations of education and experience will be considered.
  • Substantial experience delivering sales presentations.
  • Proven and successful track record of sales results.
  • Strong network of industry contacts.
  • Excellent working knowledge of the land industry as well as industry trends.
  • Strong leadership skills with excellent communication skills (verbal and written).

SENIOR/INTERMEDIATE SURFACE LAND ADMINISTRATOR (CALGARY)

 We are currently seeing two experienced Intermediate/Senior Surface Land Administrators to add to our team. With a focus on accuracy and efficiency, an Intermediate/Senior Surface Land Administrator will have an understanding of leadership, timely reporting, legal and regulatory requirements, and the ability to foster positive client relationships. This individual will be responsible for producing work that upholds the client service proposition, adheres to set processes, assist with training of other team members and researching new or revised regulatory requirements.

 Skills/Capabilities include:

  • The ability to search and review titles including identification of required encumbrances
  • Accurately and effectively prepare lease, right-of-way and other acquisition documents including Directive 56 and other notifications
  • Identify, obtain, and process third party approvals (crossings/proximities/road use/etc) for client files
  • Apply and obtain surface land dispositions from SRD via the Enhanced Approval Process (EAP)
  • Submit crown disposition applications using the SRD Enhanced Approval Process
  • Prepare client packages to meet internal/external standards and regulatory requirements
  • Diligently update and maintain client reporting with accuracy and effectiveness
  • Clear, accurate and timely verbal/written reporting to Team Lead on status of files
  • Takes ownership and responsibility of administration on assigned files
  • Provide guidance and support  to junior land administrators
  • Delegation and prioritization to colleagues to meet client deliverables

  • Experience in surface land applicators
  • Experience handling large linear projects (Power, pipeline)

SITE ACQUISITION SPECIALIST (SAS) – Calgary      (Job Reference # CTEL002SLC)

The Site Acquisition Specialist is responsible for wireless site selection, agreement negotiation, preparation, and execution, assisting with municipal consultation and zoning activities and all coordination and reporting activities for assigned sites. In addition to negotiating urban and rural site acquisitions for telecommunications towers and/or space for equipment and antennas, this position will also negotiate all access, right of way, easement agreements and consents to facilitate infrastructure build out.  The SAS will work closely with clients to find a land use solution that considers the technical challenges, aesthetic issues and practicality of infrastructure while ensuring regulatory compliance.

Qualifications include:

  • Minimum 3 years experience in site acquisition, commercial real estate, or property management; preference will be given to those with direct experience as a Site Acquisition Specialist
  • Post secondary degree/diploma in Commerce, Business, Urban Planning, Urban Land Economics, or a related discipline
  • Demonstrated success in negotiation and conflict resolution
  • Strong reporting and communication skills
  • Ability to review, create, and understand agreements and site plans
  • Excellent organizational skills with a focus on accuracy
  • Self-directed with sensitivity to timelines and issue resolution
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

JUNIOR LAND ADMINISTRATOR – REGINA    (Job Reference # RSUR001SLC)

 We are currently seeking a Land Administrator to add to our Regina team. With a focus on accuracy and efficiency, a Land Administrator will accurately and efficiently administer all components of land documentation as assigned, as well as providing accurate and efficient administrative support to internal and external clients in our Regina office.
 

Role and Responsibilities Include:

  •  Search and review titles including identification of required encumbrances
  • Accurate and efficient preparation of all assigned acquisition documents (right of way agreements, leases and additional forms)
  • Identify, obtain, and process third party approvals (crossings/proximities/road use/etc) for client files
  • Apply and obtain surface agreements from Sask. Ag and Food.
  • Prepare interest registrations and registering against land titles
  • Responsible for adherence to internal processes and procedures

  • Takes ownership and responsibility of administration on assigned files

  • Provides support to mineral administration team in the preparation of mineral lease agreements and supporting documentation
  • Perform a wide variety of administrative duties as required by the Regina team.
  • Act as the first point of contact, answering phones, directing calls, and responding to inquiries as appropriate

 Minimum Qualifications, Pre-Requisites and Skill Requirements:

  •  1-2 years of experience in land administration or a suitable combination of land administration/office administration
  • Land Administration Certificate (Mount Royal, SAIT, Olds College)
  • Intermediate level proficiency in MS Office 2007 (Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet)
  • Proven ability to multi-task, prioritize work, and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrates excellent attention to detail with a focus on accuracy
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

HR ADVISOR – CALGARY  (Job Reference #CHR003SLC)

We are currently recruiting for an HR Advisor to join our Human Resources team in our Calgary office.

In this new position, reporting to the HR Manager, the HR Advisor will be responsible for building strong relationships with internal stakeholders to successfully deliver full cycle recruitment solutions to meet our recruitment needs. This role will take a lead in developing and facilitating leadership development and employee training and development programs. This position will also provide human resources advisory support to internal clients on all aspects of human resources in support of the HR strategic plan.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

Recruitment

  • Partner with client groups to develop recruitment strategies for current and upcoming vacancies that are reflective of business needs and strategy
  • Source candidates using a variety of strategies including social networking tools, advertising, participating in career fairs and networking with internal employees and external contacts
  • Provide coaching, consultation and ongoing communication to hiring managers and, or relevant stakeholders at all stages in the recruitment process
  • Provide subject matter expertise that drives organizational design and structure,  clarification of roles and responsibilities and the development of job descriptions
  • Evaluate resumes, perform phone screenings to deliver qualified candidates to the hiring manager
  • Facilitate interviews and the selection process with hiring managers using the best practices and sound decision making tools and methodologies
  • Assess and revise recruitment business process design in order to obtain and realize efficiencies and best practice.

Learning and Development

  • In conjunction with HR Manager, define learning and development strategy, including design of in house training programs and facilitating and sourcing external training providers
  • Assess company training and development needs and determination of priorities related to learning programs to support company business goals and objectives
  • Support clients in determining workforce development planning and identification of appropriate learning solutions
  • Design, development and provision of in house training programs such as a leadership development course

 Employee Relations

  • Provide day to day HR guidance and coaching to management and staff including, but not limited to, resolving employee relations issues, performance management, resolving conflicts, and disability management
  • In conjunction with the HR Manager, work with leaders to identify and respond to the human resource requirements necessary to translate strategies and plans into the desired operational outcomes
  • Interpret, administer and provide education regarding employment legislation and internal policies and programs in all locations of operations
  • Be an active member  within the HR team regarding the design and delivery of the HR programs, practices and processes necessary to support of the HR Strategic plan and overall organizational success
  • Lead others to resolve human resources issues and problems and takes a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions
  • Foster positive relationships with clients with a focus upon customer service

 SKILLS / COMPETENCIES

  •  Degree/diploma in business with a major in Human Resources. Alternative education and equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered
  • Minimum 6 years experience in human resources, with a focus on recruitment and/or training and development
  • 2-3 years generalist HR experience
  • Knowledge of employment law and legislation
  • Strong interpersonal  and communication skills to deal with a broad range of issues
  • Able to teach, provide expert counsel and guidance to others
  • Demonstrated ability to define problems, establish alternatives and determine the optimal course of action in the context of broader business strategies and objectives
  • Enthusiasm, energy and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Well developed prioritization, time management and multi-tasking skills
